Overpopulation: NO SUCH THING:

The Rev. Oliver "Buzz" Thomas recently wrote in his USA Today article that "religious" leaders were not doing their job by not condemning people for having "too many" kids. He goes on to say that we are "overpopulating" the Earth and that we are using up all of our "scarce" resources.

Let me tell you straight:

This is nothing more than Communist, Liberal, GARBAGE.

But God says in his Word, "Be fruitful and multiply", Mr. Thomas.

This whole "overpopulating" baloney is an old liberal Environmental whack job theory that has been out there for years. I remember being "forced" to watch a Walter Cronkite documentary about "overpopulation" and "scarce resources", when I was in a government public school back 20 some years ago.

The same people who push this "save the world by having less kids" stuff are the same folk who push the global warming baloney.

Make no mistake about it. These people watch in glee as countries like China restrict their families to just 1 child. Isn't this great, Mr. Thomas wants us to emulate China's family policy. Huh? Is he crazy? Yes, Mr. Thomas is crazy.

He quotes the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. This is the group that thinks we are all going to fall into the ocean unless we stop global warming.

Mr. Thomas also says this: "I recognize that religious organizations tend to be conservative institutions. Their continued resistance to equal rights for gays is a good example".
Huh? This proves that he is a Liberal with the capital L.
What really irritates me is that this Rev. Oliver "Buzz" Thomas comes off acting like he is a conservative evangelical leader. But in this one article alone he contradicts the Bible by touting equal rights for gays and discouraging God's command to be fruitful and multiply.

I think if there is one thing that we have learned in an age of scientific enlightenment is that our planet's resources are diverse and abundant. It takes creativity and hard work to tap and distribute the earth's resources. Even though Oliver "Buzz" Thomas is saying that I am sinful and selfish by having a lot of children, imagine the fact that my children may actually work towards the solution to what he thinks is the problem through creativity and hard work.

Biblically, children are a blessing, not a blight. If you look at the statistics, countries that have zero population growth also oftentimes have very little economic growth. I think people like Oliver "Buzz" Thomas - by the way, this is an enlightened man. He's a Baptist minister, a lawyer, an author - he should not be bemoaning the population bomb and global warming, and this article has a lot to say about that as well. He should have his eye on the right ball. Instead of these kinds of people touting the Kyoto Protocol on global warming, which would cost the worldwide economy somewhere between 10 and 50 trillion dollars, we should be condemning these poor countries corrupt leaders that hoard and waste all the money instead of using the governmental power they have to build a prosperous country.

How many of you can remember back to the late '70s when people were saying - and a lot of pastors joined the chorus of voices - saying that we were about to enter a new ice age, and then making all kinds of extrapolations? People like Ted Turner. If you ever want to meet a closed-minded man, there's one example. He believes that in 30, 40, 50 years we're all going to be eating each other as cannibals.

As Christians, we need discernment skills. These so-called leaders, unfortunately, now have a place at the table. They're writing in USA Today. The kinds of things that they are saying are not only bizarre, but unconscionable. It is simply incredible to read his extrapolations. He writes that "hundreds of scientists who make up the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change warned recently that the environmental crisis is more dire than originally believed. We might have reached a tipping point. Even if we stop producing harmful greenhouse gases immediately, temperatures could continue to rise and ocean levels along with them for the next 1,000 years. How much?" Well, maybe "11 degrees this century." And the oceans are going to rise nearly two feet. And that, he says, is a conservative prediction.

These are the same kinds of people who, around the year 2000, were telling you to buy freeze-dried food and making a fortune on generators and telling people to leave the cities and move out into the country. We, as Christians, need discernment skills so that we can discern between wheat and chaff, heat and light.

Discernment. Stick that word in your vocabulary. You will need it because some in the Christian church have become so biblically illiterate and have such little comprehension of what it means to have a biblical worldview, that if you don't have discernment skills you're going to be slapped around by every wind and wave in the culture.

Let me end this blog by comparing 2 countries: According to Thomas, overpopulation will hurt us and make us poor.
Chad, Africa has 20.4 people per square mile. It is one of the poorest and most corrupt countries in the World.
Hong Kong, although not technically a country, has 16,469 people per square mile. It is one of the most richest areas around.

So I guess Mr. Thomas would rather us emulate Chad, Africa rather than Hong Kong, right?

This shows what an idiot he really is.

People, do not listen to idiots like Rev. Oliver "Buzz" Thomas.

Populate the Earth with loving families and many kids who will someday take care of us.
